The theme for 2023’s Summer Reading Program is “All Together Now!” Join us this summer for reading, events, and prizes for students in grades 1-12.
BIG NEWS! For the first time ever, the Lake Region Public Library is excited to announce the Summer Reading Program- for adults! Using the same reading tracking as students, adults will now have the opportunity to participate in special summer programming and incentives.

But wait; I have questions!
Q: Do I need a library card to participate?
A: No! You do need a library card in order to check out materials, but if you would just like to track your own reading individually without library books, that is just fine. You also do not need a library card to participate in SRP programs.
Q: I live outside of Ramsey County, do I have to pay $20 for a library card?
A: NO! Summer Reading Program participants can receive a seasonal library card for Lake Region Public Library, valid from May-September, 2023. This goes for students AND adults. You will still need to present a photo ID to create the card, and children under 18 will need an adult with them to create a library card.
Q: How do I sign up for the Summer Reading Program?
A: You can fill out our online registration form, give us a call at 701-662-2220, or stop by the library! Reading logs and other materials will be available for pick-up towards the end of May.
Q: What are the dates of the Summer Reading Program?
A: Monday, June 5 will kick off SRP, with the student program ending on July 15 and the adult program ending on August 11. Multiple programs will be held each week for various age groups; participation is not mandatory to enroll in the Summer Reading Program.
Q: I want to sign up for the adult program; what do I need to do? What kinds of things count?
A: Signing up for the adult program is just like signing up a student: just skip the section that asks for kids’ names and grades! You’ll receive an email from Maddie the week of Memorial Day with instructions on how to download the Beanstack app to register for the summer reading challenge. Books, audiobooks, and eBooks all count towards minutes read for the adult program.
Q: What are examples of prizes and programs?
A: Prizes include gift cards and certificates to local businesses, books (of course), LRPL apparel, and the grand prize for the adult program is a brand-new Nook Glowlight 4! This e-reader from Barnes and Noble can hold thousands of books at a time, and is compatible with the library’s app, Libby, for ebooks and audiobooks. Programs will feature everything from arts and crafts to making tie blankets to yoga at the library, with bigger events coming soon!
Q: Well heck, I’m ready to sign up!
A: Excellent! Happy to have you. Get ready to READ!
